US National Parks

Canyonlands

For my final National Park in Utah I visit a place that truly lives up to its name: Canyonlands National Park, a land of epic, endless canyons.

What makes a National Park a National Park?

Well officially speaking, it must be federally owned land that by the vote of both houses of congress and the signature of the President becomes protected and governed exclusively by the National Park Service.

Unofficially speaking, National Parks in the US have become symbols of a time that no longer exists, where explorers would stumble upon lands that would inspire and amaze them. Canyonlands National Park- located in Southeast Utah, just 30 minutes Southwest of Moab- is such a place, inspiring generations of people with its endless red canyons.

My roommate and I visited the “Islands of the Sky” area of the park, and after spending the day hiking and photographing this amazing place, I just want to relay one message: visit this place before you die. It is amazing, it is epic, and it is 100% stunning. Here are my photos:

My time in Utah has been amazing, but sadly this is my last park here. Upon final reflection, here are my top 5 Parks in the State:

1) Bryce Canyon
2) Zion
3) Canyonlands
4) Arches
5) Capitol Reef

Next up, I head to Arizona for Petrified Forest and Saguaro!
